The summer is almost here! With that we have a handy list to help you pack for camp. Are you summer staff check out this list instead.
You can pack your clothes in a suitcase that can slide under a bunkbed, or you can bring an under-bed plastic bin for your clothing or you can pack your stuff in a large totebag. Staff can change cabins from camp to camp, so pack in something that’s easy to move from cabin to cabin.
We ask that all campers and staff dress modestly and appropriately while at Salem Acres Bible Camp, so please pack accordingly
Required Items
Clothing for warm days and cool nights, including long pants for evenings around the campfire. Be sure to bring enough clothes for one week without washing (there are laundry facilities available on the weekends and your free time during the week, but you do not want to depend on them in the middle of the week)
2 complete change of clothes that can get wet & dirty during games
Clothing for theme nights (email will be sent out with more info)
Bible
Notebook and a pen/pencil
Hiking Boots/Sturdy Footware
Running Shoes
Sandals/Flipflops
Backpack/Daypack
Sleeping bag/sleeping gear (blankets, fitted and flat sheets) and a pillow
Headgear (sun hat, toque, bandanna)
Raincoat
Sweater(s) - could be wool or fleece
Jacket
Swimwear, towel, and shoes to wear in the river (must be a pair that cannot fall off i.e. runners)
Shower towel and other personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush and comb)
Headlamp or flashlight, and 1 spare set of batteries
2 or more water bottles (at least 2L combined)
Medications (ex: Epipen, etc. Please see our Medical Page for more info)
Bug spray and sun screen
Recommended Items
Alarm Clock (depending on your role, you will not be allowed to have your phone)
Rain pants
Life Jacket (we have some at camp, but if you have one that you prefer and fits you)
Dress or nice clothes for banquet night

personal fan (a clip-on for under your bed or a box fan; both work well, but the box fan moves more air)
Things to know before you come
There is no cell service at camp, but there are landlines.
If you bring something to camp, it will get dirty sometime.
If it comes to camp, and you leave it out, campers will almost certainly use it.
If it comes to camp, there is a chance it will get broken, lost, or (unfortunately) taken; this includes expensive items like cameras and computers.
You will be given a staff t-shirt upon your arrival.
Label as many of your possessions as you can (especially cameras, water bottles, towels, etc. — the items that you might leave around camp. It’s so much easier to retrieve a lost item if it has your name on it. And when there are 70 campers at camp it’s even harder to keep track of things. And it’s also easier to avoid losing clothing.)
What Not to Bring
Personal electronic devices (iPods, Video Games, cellphones, etc), pets, tobacco products, alcohol, drugs, junk food or extra snacks (unless on a restricted diet), money or other valuables, short shorts/skirts, halter tops or bikinis.
